Fashion Week going Digital?
Updated: Jun 17, 2020
From a recent Instagram post, it states that “London Fashion Week will relaunch as a digital only platform, open to all and merging womenswear and menswear in light of the current environment, for designers to tell their stories through collections, creative collections, podcasts and videos.” (Instagram, 2020) London Fashion Week (LFW) is “a clothing trade show that takes place in London twice a year in February and September” and “also showcases over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers."(Wikipedia)
LFW began its first digital fashion week which launched on the 12th June and ended on the 14th. What I liked about the digital experience was they had a ‘non- essential London’ where different people with a high level of influence, such as artists, models, artists etc told their audience what they had missed about London due to the lockdown.
They also have videos of different designers and the work they had produced for the show. Unfortunately, i didn't watch what went on during those two days so i am unsure if they had any live performances but i watched some short clips that are on their website. I really enjoyed watching the University of Westminister MA Menswear Graduates video. It consisted of different students' work all combined into the 1 video. It was a way where people really expressed their individuality through their work.
