Feedback from my first summative brief
To be honest, I was not expecting to receive a good grade as it was my first summative brief. So, naturally, it will not be perfect. Also, I didn't want to set the bar too high so that when it comes to future projects, I am not trying to beat myself up if I do really badly.
The positive feedback I received was I used examples that related to my trend story other than fashion. My trend story was Gothic Noir, so I first found it a little hard to relate it to fashion, so I researched Gothic Art and Architecture. I thought it would be great to be inspired by things other than fashion. Another positive feedback was that I used my workbook to evidence the majority of the projects and briefs throughout the module. I included annotations and images in my workbook. Coming from an Art background, this helped a lot as my previous tutors would always tell us to document everything, even if you don’t like it.
Some areas of improvement were also to do with my workbook. Although it was up-to-date, it was seen as more of a scrapbook than an outlet where I was being creative with my ideas. Even though I describe myself as a creative person, I do find it hard to be creative. I was not particularly surprised when I saw this comment but at the same time, I was a little disheartened by it. I sometimes lack motivation or get what people would call a ‘creative block’ when thinking of new ideas that are unique and that no-one has done before.
I knew that if I was to do something that was full-on academics I would struggle at the seriousness of the course and would want a creative outlet, but now that I am studying something that is more on the creative side, I am struggling to be creative. (my head is screaming ‘make it make sense’ as I am typing this) Overall, I am happy with the feedback I have received. Especially with the areas to improve on as it gives me a chance to do better with future projects ahead.
